Christmas at York Museum Gardens is a brand new and exciting attraction for York created by the team behind the award-winning Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland and THOR’S tipi bar.

For the first time ever, the historic York Museum Gardens will be transformed into a magical after-dark experience filled with colour, music and the biggest display of lighting and special effects York has ever seen.

The journey begins in a Christmas courtyard where visitors can enjoy festive treats such as mulled wine, hot chocolate and tasty local food, a vintage fairground ride and games stall, or even special UV face-painting.

Wander beneath canopies of trees drenched with seasonal colour, and discover the 12 Frames of Christmas, the rainbow forest of musical trees, and a spectacular projection onto York’s iconic ruins of St Mary’s Abbey. Along the way children can find hidden Christmas messages in a unique game of UV hide and seek.

Pause outside the Yorkshire Museum to admire the specially-commissioned installation by a local Yorkshire artist, thne get creative at the musical tree stumps before reaching the 14th century Hospitium.

Look out for Santa in his secret workshop, stroll through a tunnel of shimmering lights and enjoy some child-friendly fun with the ever-changing coloured mirror balls. The enchanted walk ends with the Finale of Fire on the Library lawn, and even the chance to toast your own marshmallows in the Undercroft’s Fire Bar!

Christmas at York Museum Gardens promises a wonderful festive experience, capturing the imaginations of young and old alike.
